The Oklahoma Hemp Summit Industrial hemp production processing the American Indian Model

Date - 02/17/2022 - 02/18/2022
Time - 7:45 am - 7:00 pm

This year, an Alliance of Indigenous will initiate an American Indian Hemp Fiber supply chain and will include the development of an industrial hemp processing facility located on a USDA Tribal Hemp jurisdiction in west-central Oklahoma. A market analysis and a feasibility study will be conducted to determine the viability of commercial industrial hemp farming by an American Indian Tribe. This research will be done in collaboration with industry leaders in the fields of commercial industrial hemp production and processing, and it will include American Indian Hemp professionals.
This project will allow American Indian Tribes to make informed decisions regarding the production and processing of locally-grown, industrial hemp. The project will also give the Tribes access to capital funds for future hemp-based projects, and it will help improve the delivery of services to American Indian Hemp farmers, all while taking advantage of a unique economic opportunity. The project will serve as a model for commercial industrial hemp production and processing that will benefit all tribes in the short term by providing an initial market analysis and feasibility study, and it will benefit tribes in the long term by laying fundamental groundwork for the future growth of industrial hemp and the creation of processing facilities across Indian
Country.
