Kentucky Hemp Law Seminar

Hemp Farmer, Processors, Extractors and anyone involved with the growing hemp industry are invited to attend Kentucky’s First Hemp Law Seminar. With an experienced group of speakers including lawyers, the CEO of a hemp processing facility and a representative from the Kentucky Department of Agriculture  will be available to answer any questions you may have!

Growing industrial hemp has been legalized under the Farm Bill since 2014 but the industry is still in its infancy. The legal issue surrounding this re-emerging commodity are complex and still in flux. If you are  involved in any aspect of the industrial hemp industry, this half-day Law Seminar is for you.  Food and beverages will be provided at the reception after the seminar.

Jonathan Miller, Esq. – Frost Brown Todd LLC – Over the past four years, Mr. Miller has emerged as one of the nation’s leading advocates for the full legalization of industrial hemp, and upon leading successful lobbying efforts in Kentucky and Washington that laid the groundwork for the current hemp pilot program regime, Jonathan serves as trusted counsel to dozens of companies in the industrial hemp space, with his full-service complement of law partners offering client counsel on issues ranging from intellectual property to corporate transactions to FDA regulation.

Matthew Smith, Esq. – Hoban Law Group – Mr. Smith is Vice President of the Kentucky Hemp Industries Association Inc. and is an active sponsor of the Hemp Industry in Kentucky. His practice at Campbell & Smith Law is focused on Corporate Counsel, Business Formation, Intellectual Property, Real Property, and Regulatory Compliance for business in the Hemp Industry.

Trey Riddle, PhD. – Sunstrand, Corp. – Dr. Riddle is the CEO of Sunstrand, the leading supplier of biomaterials for technical and industrial applications. Sunstrand currently operates the only industrial scale commercial hemp decortication facility in North America capable of producing technical grade fibers. Dr. Riddle is the former President of the KY Hemp Industries Association and a member of the Hemp Industry Roundtable. He started his career in engineering performing accelerated structural testing on wind turbine blades. Dr. Riddle received his BS and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Montana State University and Masters from Cornell University.

Joe Bilby, Esq. – Kentucky Department of Agriculture – Mr. Bilby is a Louisville native who has been General Counsel at the Kentucky Department of Agriculture since July of last year.  Prior to joining KDA, worked for five years in private practice at a firm in Louisville.  Prior to attending law school at UK, spent four years as an artillery officer in the U.S. Marine Corps.
